Kes And The Doctor

Of course the very next day after posting a whole thing about Bad Dads in Voyager I feel compelled to do a little portrait of Kes and The Doctor. This is one pseudo-parental relationship I can totally get behind.

I absolutely love their friendship/mentorship. From Kes first realizing that the Doctor needed to be treated like a human member of the crew to his protecting her in "Twisted," they are completely adorable. I hope I did their relationship justice:

  1. Beautiful! You have captured a Doctor/Kes moment very well here. I love it!

  2. Kes wasn't my favourite character, but I remember how moved I was by her conversation with the Captain about how the crew treated the Doctor. So clever, and she was only one!

    1. Yes, I completely agree! I love her relationship with the Doctor and how she defended him when no one else would.

  3. I loved Kes. Her good-bye scene with Janeway in "The Gift" always makes me tear-up. I didn't really believe her interminglings with Tom Paris, but the chemistry with Neelix and the Doctor was sweet.

    1. Oh, I know. Every time I watch Voyager, I hate the thought of Kes leaving but then Seven shows up and always end up loving her. I wish they had both been on the show.

    2. It's hard to imagine that for Kes' minimal role on the show that there wasn't enough money for both Jeri and Jennifer. And I don't think the two of them ever had a scene together, even during "Fury" that less-than-savoury Kes' return episode. It was sad to think of sweet Kes turning into a bundle of rage out there on her own.
